Aescher-Wildkirchli is definitely not for the faint of heart. This secluded mountain hut can be found only after journeying to the Alps, taking a cable car to a high plateau and hiking through a cave to find the adorable orange house. The house peeks out from behind infinitely tall jagged stone cliffs, under the Ebenalp plateau. The guesthouse welcomes the young and the young at heart, and can be a bit noisy for the traveler who prefers an early bedtime. It’s quite a surprise for a guesthouse in such a rugged, traditional area where women were not allowed to vote on local issues until 1989. Despite these issues, the scenery in the area is without parallel.
