Ditan, also known as the Temple of the Earth, is one of the four elemental temples of Beijing. The other four Beijing temples commemorate the sun, the moon, the heavens, and the practice of agriculture. This park is open seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day, for visitors wishing to pay tribute to the ancient deities. Many elderly people still visit the temple to pay tribute. The park is also a relaxing place to visit every morning to see a temple for fasting and a bell tower. Another fascinating feature of the temple is the heavy symbolism in the shape and positioning of the construction elements, which truly have to be seen to be believed.
