Heilbronn is an eccentric step back in time to some of the strangest of medieval German cities. As an example, look at the Siebenröhrenbrunnen fountain. This creation draws inspiration from the medieval cathedrals with its vaulted ceiling, eight spouts, and depiction of pious citizens ringing in daily prayers at the top of a bell tower. Presumably, the bell tower may be the wonderfully ornate bell tower at the top of the preserved St. Kilian's Church, most famous for its wonderfully preserved stone relief carvings of monsters and gargoyle-inspired spouts. Visiting Heilbronn is a nice retreat from the hustle of larger cities, with the added opportunity to admire this strange creation.
