Prague Castle is a castle complex in Prague, Czech Republic. Prague Castle was built around 850 AD by the Premyslid family. Its history has been long and rich, from its very origin to present day it has been the seat of administration of the country. Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, occupying an area of almost 70,000m. The original Castle was built of timber and was fortified with a soil rampart. The castle grounds were as large then as they are today and consisted of many small timber houses.
