Richat Structure (Eye of the Sahara), Mauritania Mauritania

The Richat Structure, also known as the Eye of the Sahara and Guelb er Richat, is a prominent circular feature in the Sahara near Ouadane, west–central Mauritania. This structure is a deeply eroded, slightly elliptical, 40 km in diameter dome. The Richat Structure or the Eye of the Sahara is a prominent geological circular feature in the Sahara desert. Earlier believed to be a meteor impact and then a geographical transformation, its origin is still a mystery.
