The Robot Building Thailand

Your eyes aren’t fooling you. The Bank of Asia does indeed house their business office in a giant robot. Famous Thai architect Sumet Jumsai drew inspiration for this truly futuristic building from his son’s beloved robot action figure. The friendly building is intended to symbolize a more accommodating, helpful technologically advanced future. Executives overlook the city from the dining and meeting rooms held in the robot’s eyes, which can be closed with innovative sun shades. At night, the eyes wink to the tune of Jacques Bekaert’s “The Robot Symphony” as they overlook Bangkok. The robot’s antennae serve as lightning rods and his blue curtain walls nod to the Bank of Thailand, as well as a need for shade. It’s refreshing to see a surreal building that is as practical as it is sublime.
