The Crooked Forest of Poland is a one of Europe’s most mysterious, haunting forests. This is a grove of roughly 400 pine trees that have leaned forward, looking like a collection of wooden letter “J”s or fishing hooks on the mossy forest floor. The grove was planted at the beginning of the 20th century. If a snowstorm did not bend these trees, some speculate that the original human gardener may have purposely bent the young trees in order to create curved materials to be used to create furniture or wooden boats. However, no one knows how or why this was performed.
